Getting to Bagan
Bagan is served by Nyaung-U Airport (NYU) with regular domestic flights from Yangon and Mandalay; international travelers often connect via Yangon (RGN) or Mandalay (MDL). Overland buses and private cars run from Mandalay or Yangon, and traditional river boats on the Irrawaddy provide a scenic, slower alternative from Mandalay that takes several hours.
Getting around Bagan
The archaeological zone is extensive; many visitors rent electric bikes, motorcycles or use taxis and tuk-tuks to hop between temples. Walking works well within small clusters, but a bike or private driver is useful for wider exploration; there is limited public transit within the zone.
